About Tamar Halpern
Tamar Halpern received a BA in Journalism and an MFA in Film Production from the University of Southern California. While there, she wrote and produced the award-winning short “Never Come Back”, starring Lucy Liu. She received a screenwriting fellowship from Paramount and the Jack Oakie Comedy Screenwriting award. She is a proud alum of Hedgebrook, a women’s writing residence, and her script about Nellie Bly, titled “Blackwell”, is in development with Sobini Films. She has written and directed three award-winning comedy features as well as short and long format documentaries. She’s written and directed several short films and music videos and directed viral campaigns for Mark Burnett’s “Gold Rush”. While at the advertising agency Spot Runner, she applied her storytelling skills to commercials, viral campaigns and pitches. With her background in low budget filmmaking, she was able to write and direct high production value commercials at a fraction of the cost. Client list for commercials and pitches include DPS, Stuller, WalMart, Rue La La, Amazon, Open Table, Pepsi and CBS. Tamar is very interested in continuing her work as a writer and director of affordable, high production value advertising and viral campaigns that entertain intelligently.
